Much of my writing explores the space between objective events and the meanings we assign to them, examining themes of identity, love, loss, truth and transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Across different forms and genres, I return to the same questions: How do we become who we are? Which stories do we inherit, and which do we create ourselves? And what remains when those stories begin to shift?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Poetry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My poetry explores themes of memory, identity, love, loss and perception. Often rooted in personal experience, the poems move beyond autobiography towards broader reflections on what it means to be human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/anoukbrusse.com\/?page_id=346\" type=\"page\" id=\"346\">[View selected poems in English and Dutch \u2192]<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Theatre<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My theatre work explores psychological and philosophical themes through intimate, character-driven narratives. Rather than focusing on external events, the plays examine the stories people construct about themselves and others, and the tension between perception, memory and truth.<br><br>Featuring excerpts from <em>Waarheid<\/em> (<em>Truth<\/em>) and <em>Ave Maria<\/em>, two plays that explore the fragile relationship between identity, truth and the roles we inhabit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/anoukbrusse.com\/?page_id=374\" type=\"page\" id=\"374\">[View Theatre Works \u2192]<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fiction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside poetry, theatre and film, I write literary fiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am the author of the novel <em>The Naked Cockatoo<\/em> and am currently working on a second novel.
